You’re waiting with loads of anticipation for the upcoming premier of Wonder Woman – Amazonian Diana is by far your favorite part of The Justice League. But did you know that a heroine like her comes to the rescue regularly in your very own neighborhood? That’s right – Dr. Marianna Gaitsgory saves smiles all the time by performing emergency dentistry. In this post, learn how your premier dentist in Framingham can help when an urgent oral healthcare situation and find out what dental first aids tips you can use if an accident happens to your pearly whites.

What Dental Emergencies Can Framingham Premier Dental Help With?

As your trusted Framingham dentist, Dr. Gaitsgory understands how stressful dental emergencies can be. If you find yourself facing any of the situations below, stay calm and reach out to us right away at (508) 276-3098.

  • Knocked-Out Tooth – No matter the reason you lose a tooth, this can cause extreme anxiety. Don’t panic – instead, calmly pick it up by the crown (the part you chew with) and rinse it off with water. Then, place the tooth back in the socket. If you’re unable to do this, put it in a glass of milk. Regardless of the first aid tips you use, contact us immediately.
  • Toothache – Many people might not realize that a toothache is a dental emergency, but these painful oral infections can cause serious health issues. If you’re experiencing discomfort, make sure nothing is lodged between your teeth and floss gently to remove any debris. Rinse with warm salt water and don’t delay treatment if the pain lasts more than one day.
  • Cracks/Breaks– Collect any broken or chipped pieces of your tooth or and store them in a glass of milk – and keep any broken dental restorations like crowns or fillings. Don’t try to use over-the-counter dental cement to repair your teeth yourself as this can complicate professional treatment. Reach out to us ASAP for the care you need.

When Should I Go To The ER?

Most hospitals don’t have dentist on-call or on staff, which is problematic since only dentists can perform dentistry. You should usually call us right away, but go to the nearest emergency room if you encounter the circumstances below:

  • Prolonged Bleeding – Trauma to the lips, cheeks, and tongue can be distressing due to the amount of blood involved. If you cut or tear any of the soft tissues of your mouth, rinse with warm salt water. Then, apply a piece of sterile gauze that’s been moistened in the salt water to the area, or use a wet tea bag instead. Go to the closest ER if the bleeding does not stop in 15-20 minutes.
  • Jaw Injury – If you have a fall, are in an accident, or an altercation, and experiencing jaw pain, go to the hospital immediately. Keep in mind, though, that ER doctors can often overlook a broken jaw, so follow us if you continue having pain and swelling after you’re treated at the hospital.

Although she may not wear a cape, Dr. Gaistgory is a dental superhero, and she’s happy to come to the rescue if an accident happens. Give us a call or schedule an appointment with Framingham Premier Dental to get to know our team before an emergency occurs!
